AMEC comes out on top in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index oil equipment and services sector
04 September 2009
London, United Kingdom (4 September 2009) - AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company, has been ranked the sector leader for sustainability in the oil equipment and services sector of the worldwide Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2009/10. AMEC was in competition with 37 other organisations.
The assessment was based on corporate economic, environmental and social performance, taking into account issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labour practices.
This is the sixth year in succession that AMEC has featured in the DJSI, which annually surveys and benchmarks the world's 2,500 largest companies. Only the top 10 per cent of the best performing organisations, based on the above assessment criteria, are included in the index.
Keith Bradford, AMEC’s Human Resources Director and with management responsibility for sustainability said: “Sustainability is an increasingly important part of modern-day business and we are really committed to it. Our stakeholders, who include customers, employees and the public, expect nothing less and we will continue to invest in our people, communities, the environment and our industry to maintain the high standards we have set ourselves.”
